PHOTOGRAPHIC FIELD FLATTENERS

A relatively short focal ratio refractor (f6-f7) has a highly curved focal plane. This creates a problem when imaging, because the CCD chip is flat, not curved. Thus stars near the edge of the image appear elongated instead of round. A field flattener is a special lens that corrects this distortion. These new Stellarvue modular field flatteners will work with virtually every camera on the market by employing various adapters. Now you do not have to worry about getting different flatteners when you change cameras: you merely purchase the correct adapters as needed. Threaded adapters are a much better choice than plug in adapters which can sag. Threading all components of the optical train ensures the sharpest images consistently.

DESCRIPTION

Photographic field flattener for our f6 refractors:
This field flattener is designed to work with our f-6 optical systems. This includes our SV70ED, SV80ST2 and SV80S. The flattener plugs into the focuser and a DSLR camera mounts to it using a standard photographic t-ring. CCD cameras will also work with this flattener but a threaded extension may be required. Some cameras used with this flattener may require a spacer ring to reach focus. If this is the case, contact us. Spacer rings are $20. #SFF6 - $265

Photographic field flattener for our f-7 refractors:
This is our most popular modular flattener designed for all Stellarvue telescopes that operate at a certain focal ratio. The lens inserts into the 2” focuser and uses a tapered insert tube to more accurately seat the flattener in the focuser. A DSLR adapter is included with t-thread. The spacing distance from the T-thread on the flattener is 55 - 56 mm so it will work as is with any DSLR camera that has a t-adapter. For other cameras including all ccd cameras, consult us. Usually, a thread extension is all that is needed. This flattener is designed for use with cameras having an APS or smaller chip. This is the majority of cameras on the market. #SFF7-21 - $265

SFF7-25:

Dedicated APS sized f-7 field flattener for use with either the Feather Touch 2.5” focuser or the new Stellarvue 2.5” dual speed focuser. This is the flattener for imaging with APS sized and smaller chips when used with any of our telescopes that use the 2.5” focuser. #SFF7-25 - $295

SFF7-3FT:
Same optics as above but this unit threads into the rear of the Feather Touch 3” focuser. Use this with SV telescopes made with the 3” Feather Touch focuser.

Large Chip flattener for 2.5” focusers

This flattener is made for our f-7 refractors. It threads to the rear of our new Stellarvue 2.5” focuser or the Feather Touch 2.5” focuser. This flattener uses an over-sized 48 mm camera attachment thread. Using one of the over-sized 48 mm T rings below, a DSLR camera may be used with this field flattener. This provides a completely threaded mounting solution for larger chip cameras when used a 2.5” focuser. When using a CCD astro camera, an adapter will be required. Contact us for more information.

This flattener is made for our f-7 refractors. It threads to the rear of the Feather Touch 3” focuser. This flattener uses an over-sized 48 mm camera attachment thread. Using one of the over-sized 48 mm T rings below, a DSLR camera may be used with this field flattener. This provides a completely threaded mounting solution for larger chip cameras when used with the 3” Feather Touch focuser. When using a CCD astro camera, an adapter will be required.
