Guide Scope Rings

Guidescopes are used as super finders and for guiding the main telescope when imaging. When mounting a guidescope on top of another telescope, it is necessaru to use adjustable rings. Adjustable rings allow the guidescope to be moved slightly in relation to the main telescope. This is necessary because if non-adjustable hinged rings are used, the telescopes will never be pointed in precisely the same direction. When using a guidescope as a super finder, adjustable rings will allow the user to make sure each telescope is centered on the same object. When doing astro-photography, adjustable rings will make it possible to point the guidescope at a relatively bright guide star while the main telescope is centered on the object being photographed. We offer two sizes of guidescope rings and they may be mounted on either our medium weight SV rail or the larger and heavier Losmandy type rail.

This is the rail to use when mounting a guidescope the top of a Stellarvue refractor and the main telescope has rings that are 3” to 6” apart.  #RS - $49

railms

Medium Stellarvue Rail. This rail is made to attach to 8” SCT’s. The rail is 15” long and has slots for mounting screws. Hole spacing is 11 1/2” - 13 5/8”. Use as is on Meade 8” SCT’s. When used with Celestron’s 8” SCT, the #CESCTA base is required. #RM - $59

raills

Long Stellarvue Rail. This rail is made to attach to 9 1/4”, 10” and 11” SCT’s. The rail is 20” long and has slots for mounting screws. Hole spacing is 15.25” - 18.25”. Use as is on Meade 10” SCT’s. When used with Celestron’s 9 1/4” or 11” SCT, the #CESCTA base is required.
#RL - $69

CESCTA 150

Celestron SCT Adapter bases (2). Use these with the medium or long rail above when mounting your guidescope to a Celestron SCT or HD telescope. These can also be used with Losmandy rails atop an SCT.

CESCTA - $29

Heavy Duty Guidescope Sysem

The system uses the Losmandy sized rail. If you have a Losmandy rail atop your telescope, use the rings below for mounting you guidescope. If you do not have a Losmandy rail on top of your rings but you are using our TP6 mounting plate, purchase another TP6 for mounting on top of the rings and then either of the ring systems below will work.
