Made to mount our 50 - 60 mm finderscopes to a Schmidt-Cassegrain (SCT) telescope. This has a dovetail shoe that attaches to the mirror cell on 8” and larger Celestron or Meade SCTs. A small dovetail slides into this shoe with the finder rings. This creates an easy, quick disconnect allowing the rings and finder to be removed from the telescope. The SCT shoe is larger in size than the shoe on the R50FA. Click on the diagram above to see the dimensions.
SCT's use different size mounting screws so this ring system does not come with them. It is important that the screws you purchase for mounting this dovetail shoe on the telescope be the same thread size as what you removed and that the screws you purchase do not go into the mirror cell deeper than those that came out. If the screws are too long, they may strike the mirror inside! So, place the dovetail on the SCT mirror cell and measure the distance from the top of the slot on the dovetail to the threaded hole, then add the length of the screw that came out of the hole. The screws you purchase should be slightly less than this combined length.

Best Finder Mount On the Market
Very we'll constructed and I feel the best available on the market. The FBD Shoe is perfect for mounting your 50 or 60mm finder on an 8-inch or larger Dobsonian, as I am on my 10-inch Dob.

A quality product that meets my expectations
This is my second set of Stellarvue rings and I am quite happy with them. I purchased these guidescope rings to replace the o-ring and spring loaded mechanism that celestron offers with their SCT scopes. The increased rigidity and adjustment was obvious when I mounted it on my scope. I would certainly recommend these guidescope rings if your looking to upgrade. The only quibble I have is with the thumb screws. This is mainly a cosmetic issue, but I wish the screws were a bit larger in diameter and not so cheap looking.
