Product Description
To attach the clam shell, remove the entire back end of the finder or guide scope, slide on the clam shell being careful not to pull up the adhesive backed velvet as you install it. Replace the back end parts and you are ready to go. Do not remove the dew shield to attach the clam shell as the lens will fall out onto the floor!
IMPORTANT: This clam shell is made to mount the F50 finder to a camera tripod. It is not made for use as a ring for a finder scope or guide scope as there is no adjustment possible. Hard mounting this ring to a telescope will result in the finder scope and telescope pointing at different areas of the sky. So do not order this clam shell ring for mounting to a telescope unless you have some way to adjust its position.

Another high quality Stellarvue Product
I actually purchased this clamshell for one of Stellarvue’s 50mm prism diagonals (another nice product). The mount I am using it on has a dual dovetail which allows the user to align one optical tube to the other, so I didn’t need rings. This clamshell works perfectly and is far less prone to requiring realignment when changing out the finder’s eyepiece. Great build quality; thank you to all those at Stellarvue for continuing to make great optics and accessories.

Great clamshell for the 50mm finder!
I have been meaning to purchase one of these ever since I bought the SV50 RA finder last year. I'm going to Iceland in the fall and I needed something that would allow me to easily use it on a photo tripod. It fits the finder beautifully and the workmanship is superb. A wonderful product.

little parts..big deal
Fits good and tight...with the 7" Vixen rail, it is a perfect fit on the AND MiniMax side-by-side VSBS 11" Vixen connector bar...now I have my Stellarvue SV70T and with your .8 flattener and red dot multi-reticle finderon one side and your 9x50 straight through on the MiniMaxl on the other....received my GGEM DX LAST week and got go try out my SV110 on it in West Texas Saturday night....awesome visuals with it as usual but the move to a big mount made it much easier...saving now for your bigger triplet!! I am one of your company's biggest fans!!!

F50 Clamshell
This clamshell is absolutely perfect for my needs. I can't mount a ring system to my widefield imaging mount not only because of the size, but because the mounting holes don't allow it. This clamshell solved all of that and more. It's very well made and fits perfectly onto the F50 OTA. The clamshell is lined with velvet, so you do need to be careful when installing it.

just what I was looking for
I was looking for a way to eliminate the adjustable rings on my guide scope and make it more solid. This clamshell mount was just what I was looking for very high quality and it was a breeze to setup

A solid base for a guiding telescope
With the sensitivity of today's autoguiders, there is no need to have a guide telescope mount that is adjustable - a guide star will always be visible. The small-telescope mounts that use three screws to hold the optical tube are just too ornery. This collar is solidly built and holds the 50-mm guide scope very tightly; a screw on the collar makes sure that the instrument is locked down. There won't be any movement on this one when guiding starts. The base with its mounting holes should be adaptable to any reasonable accessory plate - Losmandy or Vixen, for instance. There is even a flat surface on the top of the collar to add yet another optical device - a finder perhaps...?
