Excellent form, function, cost
It made me smile to look at this little beauty after opening the package. It does exactly what it's supposed to in a lightweight, functional package, and at a good price.

Great Illuminator
This is the second item I purchased from Stellarvue (1st was the 10x60 correct image finderscope). As with my first purchase the item was well packed and arrived quickly. I am extremely pleased with the professional quality of Stellarvue products. This addition to my Stellarvue finderscope makes it complete and first class. I didn't think I needed the illuminator initially, but, after discovering the difficulty viewing the reticle under dark skys, I purchased it. It's well made with an intesity control that's solid, smooth, and has good range. Installation was easy, and it solves the problem. Apparently, you can't go wrong with Stellarvue products. The finderscope is outstandind too. I wanted high quality, and I got it. Thanks.

Outstanding accessory
Great addition to the stellarvue finderscope. Threads into the eyepiece base of the finderscope, illuminating the reticle with an adjustable red light.

Works fine but the switch is a concern
The illuminator itself works great -- the brightness of the crosshairs can be gradually increased/reduced from nothing to way-too-bright, and it really makes centering objects in the finderscope very easy. But on just the second use, the on/off switch sort of let go, and just started rotating 360 degrees; it's as though it lost the detent that stops it at "off" or "fully on". However, on subsequent uses it seems to have restored its functionality, so we will see if it will last, especially if I can be careful with it. So, were it not for the switch issue, I would give the unit a 5-star rating, but given that I cannot vouch for its durability, I opt for 3 stars.

Poor Assembly
REVIEW: Basic Illuminator. To eyepiece M8-1.25. LED diode can be switched out if needed. Attenuation switch came loose at thread and solder joint at negative battery post was broke. Had to re-solder joint and functionality was restored. Fine product, poor assembly. REPLY: I am so sorry you had an issue. For future reference, we would have gladly replaced the defective unit for you. We check these here but it sounds like yours was improperly soldered. Glad you got it working okay. In the future if you get any Stellarvue product that is not 100% call or email us. Thanks for choosing Stellarvue. Vic Maris President Stellarvue

How can something so good cost so little?
Something's wrong when the illuminator on a $80 -$110 eyepiece dies prematurely. Yet half of mine are dead! What a nice piece for a unassailable price. This is value that I appreciate very much.

Excellent
Bought this illuminator along with the Stellarvue 9x50. Never used an illuminator before and just like other comments here, it makes it a breeze centering objects. The feel and operation of this illuminator is first class. Job well done!
