Connection thread size is M8 x 0.75mm pitch.
It is easy to replace the batteries:
1. Grasp the elluminator as shown below. Unthread the two sides.
2. Remove the batteries and replace facing the same way as those you removed. See the image below.

Nice Illuminator
I bought the illuminator for a 50mm Stellarvue finderscope I recently purchased. It fits great and gives me a wide range of light levels from very dim to bright. The price was great and the quality seems very good. It really helps to center objects in a dark sky and is well worth the investment.

very nice illuminator
My old Tak illuminator fell apart (unsoldered), and I needed a quick replacement while imaging. I happened to have the Stellarvue on another scope, and, magically, it fit. So, I ordered two more as backup. Great product at a good price.

The Illuminator arrived within 2 days...kudos Stellarvue. It fit and worked perfectly out of the box. I especially like the dimming feature. The build quality is top notch... compared to others I looked at! Once again kudos for a fine product.
