Product Description
A Super Finder with lots of features: If you want the ultimate super finder, we think this may be it. This finder uses an 80 mm f-6 apochromatic triplet objective using super low dispersion and Lanthanum glass. It comes with a 2 1/2" dual speed, rack and pinion focuser. It has our massive 2" 90-degree erecting prism with twist-lock eyepiece holder and a 32 mm, 68 degree wide-field, focusable, reticle eyepiece with illuminator. The rings are adjustable guide scope rings that are affixed to dual quick-release bases that will attach to a Losmandy-style or Vixen-style dovetail mounted to the top of your refractor rings. Dovetail mounting rings are available here: https://www.stellarvue.com/rails/
Visual Telescope: The finder is a telescope in its own right that will deliver crisp, high contrast views. Just swap out the eyepiece to boost power. Replace the erecting prism diagonal with a star diagonal to convert this into a wide-field visual telescope to use it in concert with the larger telescope it is attached to. This way, you will get high power and wide field views simultaneously through your larger telescope and super finder.
Photographic Guide Scope: One can remove the erecting prism and eyepiece and use this instrument as a 480 mm photographic guide scope. This instrument has a lot to offer, and it should be selling for twice the price based on everything it comes with.
Not an SVX Objective: It is important to point out that the objective of this super finder is a typical imported 80 mm apo triplet. It is not an SVX objective, so it is not hand-figured in our optical shop. For this reason, we do not recommend this instrument as a stand-alone imaging telescope.
Limited availability: We have built only a limited number of these super finders.
