If you purchase a tripod that uses an attachment bolt with a different thread size, you can replace the base adapters on most* of our columns.
MEC 003 Adapter: Use this adapter to mount your column to our Denali tripod or to any heavy-duty tripod using the standard 3/8-16 camera tripod thread.
MEC 010 Adapter: Use this adapter to mount to most import telescope mount tripods including Vixen tripods, the Celestron AVX/GP tripods and many others. Measure the diameter of the attachment bolt on the tripod. It should be slightly less than 10 mm indicating it is a metric M10 thread.
MEC 012 Adapter: Use this adapter to mount the column to larger import tripods that use a metric M12 bolt (such as the Celestron CGEM). Measure the diameter of the attachment bolt on the tripod. It should be slightly less than 12 mm indicating it is a metric M12 thread.
*SPECIAL NOTE ON FORMER MEC002 COLUMNS: Our original column used a 5/8" base adapter that was welded in place. Sorry, these older columns were not made for these adapters.

M002 Column Base Adapter
I got this extra base adapter with the 3/8"-16 hole so that I could mount a column to a hand railing on a balcony. This thing is a solid and well-machined chunk of metal with a smooth black finish. It's nice, functional, and reasonably priced. Be aware that no screws are provided for attaching this to your column, but as long as there are imperial socket head screws available at the local hardware store you'll be fine. Here are some measurements, since schematics aren't shown on the main product page: Total thickness: 1.352" Diameter of the bit that sticks up into the column: 2.220" Diameter of the bit that sticks out the bottom: 2.320"
