Product Description
This new 0.8x reducer/flattener works well with both the SVX070T and the SVX080T. It will correct to about APS-C and has a variable back focus adjustment. At long last we have a reducer flattener that works with fast refractors, and it can be dialed in to work.
With the variable adjustment you can dial in back focus to match your camera and telescope. Let's assume you have our 80 mm f-6 apo triplet (any version that uses a 2.5" or larger focusers). Let's also assume you are using a DSLR with a 55 mm back focus. Merely dial the adjustment to around 7.5 and your back focus will be close to optimized. Experiment from there and dial in the flattest field!
Now let's assume you have the Stellarvue SVX090T. Dial it to 6 and start there. If using the smaller 70, dial it to 9 mm and start from there.
All of this ^ assumes your imaging train consumes 55mm of back focus.
The focusing mechanism is tight and smooth but once you have it dialed in, use the thumb screw to lightly lock it in place.
Camera-side threads = M48
Focuser-side threads = M63 when 2.5" focuser is selected, M68 when Stellarvue 3" focuser is selected and M75 when Feather Touch 3" focuser is selected.
This reducer/flattener is also capable of housing 2" mounted filters. As seen below you simply unthread the adapter on the camera-side of the unit, attach the filter, and reassemble everything!
*Please note that we do not recommend stacking filters as there will not be enough space to accommodate more than one.

REDUCER FLATTENER FOR SVX080T
I’ve been imaging using my SVX80 and both the SFFX-1 and the 0.8 Reducer, for about 2 years now and am very happy with the sharpness and round stars to the edge of my APS-C camera frame. Having both is like owning 2 scopes at 384mm and 480mm focal length. Highly recommended.
