Stellar Shot of the Week: March 05, 2021
"Carina" (NGC 3372) (by Paul Milvain)
Congratulations to this week's Stellar Shot selection, which goes to Paul Milvain and his stunning image of the The Carina Nebula complex. This beauty was captured using a Stellarvue SV70T, although it's worth noting that Paul has since upgraded to the newer SVX080T with its in-house figured optics and slight increases of both aperture and focal length. But returning to the image at hand, this magnificent photo was shot by Paul with a ZWO ASI294mc-p and an Orion Atlas Pro AZ/EQ-G. He was ultimately able to compile 97 frames of 300" each, with stacking and calibration done in Astro-Pixel Processor (APP). The natural palette of colors on this shot felt perfect to our eyes. It has a beautiful and complex selection of reds from all the h-alpha, but also enough brightness to see all the fine structures and intricate details of this massive region.
Please make sure to submit your own images to us directly by email too, or by tagging them with #stellarvue and #stellarshot on social media.
