Stellar Shot of the Week: June 25, 2021
NGC 7635 - The Bubble Nebula (by Greg Turgeon)

Congratulations to this week's Stellar Shot selection, which goes to Greg Turgeon and his image of NGC 7635, aka "The Bubble Nebula". Greg is a fantastic imager with compositions ranging across all sizes, object types, and even hemispheres, but for this week's shot we are looking at a target taken on one of his smaller scopes... our SVQ100. There were not many of them made, but in the right hands they are capable of some really remarkable images. This shot in particular was a pretty deep crop of the original image, but Greg used a @ZWOASI 1600mm-p and just his H-alpha and Oxygen-3 filters for this bicolor composition. Even in such a close-up crop you're able to beautifully see the details of the bubble itself, down to the finest ripples across the surface of the bubble itself. Greg employed 60x240 frames each across the two filters, with the standard unity gain settings of the 1600 cameras.

Great work by Greg! And everyone else please make sure to submit your own images to us directly by email, or by tagging them with #stellarvue and #stellarshot on social media.
