Stellar Shot of the Week: November 13, 2020
"Shelob's Lair" (The Tarantula Nebula and surrounding objects) - by Astrobin User "Jarrah"
So this week's StellarShot is brought to us by an Astorbin user who goes by the name of Jarrah, and consists of one of the most interest regions of the entire sky. The Southern Hemisphere is filled with targets than many of us Northern folk have long-dreamed of imaging or seeing, but the Tarantula Nebula and Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) have got to be the most interesting of them all. If you look at the annotated version of this image you will see a massive gathering of objects all swarming together, with the two biggest being visible to the naked eye under dark Southern skies. This particular image was taken with a Stellarvue SV70T and some kind of one-shot color camera, along with the STC Astro Multispectra filter, and if the technical card is correct it's only a 1hr exposure! Kudos to Jarrah on such a fine image, and we invite you to please submit your own astrophotos to us directly by email, by linking to our gear on astrobin, or by tagging them with #stellarvue and #stellarshot on Instagram or Facebook.
