Stellar Shot of the Week: December 17, 2021
"The Whirlpool Galaxy (Messier 51)" - by Tom Wideman
Congratulations to this week's Stellar Shot, which was taken by Tom Wideman and his brand new (at the time) SVX130T. This is another fantastic first light image (which we always love to see), and it was taken with a ZWO ASI2600MM-Pro, EFW, OAG, and ASI290Mini guider. Tom used Baader filters (Ha/LRGB) for a total of XXX hours, all on top of a Losmandy G-11 with Gemini 2. Images were captured with Sequence Generator Pro, guided by PHD2, and processed in PixInsight. Obviously first light does not meant the first time Tom has ever processed an image, and his skills in Pixinsight are on clear display here. The amount of detail and color he was able to bring out is impressive for any amount of data collection, but for only XXX hours its absolutely incredible.
Great work by Tom, and if for anyone else shooting with a Stellarvue please we would love to feature your work as well! Please submit your shots any time by email (using mail@stellarvue.com) or by tagging them with #stellarvue and #stellarshot for a chance to be featured as our StellarShot of the week.
