Frank Dibbell took this outstanding shot of the Elephant’s Trunk Nebula (IC1396) in Cepheus using his SVX140T. This emission nebula lies 2,400 lightyears away and spans over 100 lightyears across. The rim of this nebula is the surface of a dense cloud, illuminated and ionized by the bright, massive star HD 206267.
According to Frank:
This is an RGB image with Ha and Oiii blended in.
SV140 APO and ZWO ASI2600M CMOS camera with Astrodon RGB+Ha+Oiii filters. CCDStack used for calibration and stacking. Photoshop used for image processing.
