Kevin LeGore captured this outstanding shot of the total lunar eclipse "Blood Moon" using his SVX180T. Kevin is the winner of our Total Lunar Eclipse Contest and will receive a $200.00 Stellarvue Gift Certificate as his reward. A total lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes through the Earth's umbra and blocks all direct sunlight from the Moon's surface. Some sunlight still reaches the lunar surface via the Earth's atmosphere, bathing the Moon in a reddish, yellow or orange glow.
According to Kevin: "The weather cleared just in time last night to watch the total lunar eclipse. It was perfect despite the cold and windy night."
