SVX90T - Clamshell

SVX90T - Clamshell

Posted by Brian Meyers on 8th Oct 2024

With his SVX90T, Brian Meyers managed to take this brilliant shot of the Clamshell Nebula (Sh2-119) in Cygnus. Located 2,200 light-years away from Earth. This emission nebula’s gas and dust is ionized and illuminated by the bright blue-white stars held within. As these stars age and die, they release gas and dust back into space, eventually leading to new star formation.

According to Brian:

Rigged the SVX90 back up for a few wider field projects (and to do some visual with the 152). I took some artistic license on this one, only adding back in the central star. The dense starfield seemed to detract from the details and interesting movement of the nebula.
