Stellar Shot of the Week: October 30, 2020
"The Ghost Nebula" (Sh2-136) - by Hugo Samuel Garnica Jr.
Congratulations to Hugo for taking this week's Stellar Shot, which was captured using a Stellarvue SV130T and a ZWO-ASI183MM-P. With Halloween on the horizon we wanted to get everyone in the spirit, and what better way to do that than with a spookily-good image of the Ghost Nebula. This dark patch of dust in the constellation Cepheus is a fantastic broadband target, and Hugo has demonstrated some really excellent processing abilities in bringing out both the nebula and the surrounding stars' colors. Seeing the stars pop out in their respective hues is one of the most enjoyable parts of imaging dark nebulae, and Hugo was able to get a nice mix of blue, orange, and white lights that really sets the balance for the whole image. For more fine work done by Hugo and his SV130T, please check out the rest of his portfolio on Astrobin under the username of "hgarnica".
