Stellar Shot of the Week: October 16, 2020
"The Triangulum Galaxy" (Messier 33) - by Jon Talbot
Congratulations to Jon Talbot for taking this week's Stellar Shot! Jon took this image with his Stellarvue SVX152T and a QSI683WSG-8, running on top of a Paramount MyT. Jon is an incredible imager with results that impress across the board, from LRGB to narrowband and with every type of target. We're a bunch of suckers for good galaxy images, and this is one of the cleanest examples of M33 we've ever seen. The star forming regions pop out like little fireworks, and the color processing is textbook for this target. This mix of broadband and narrowband imaging is a fantastic approach for galactic targets as the h-alpha channel is what really helps the star-forming regions pop, but you should check out the rest of Jon's dedicated narrowband work too... absolutely incredible stuff. You can find his portfolio on Astrobin under the username of "talbotj", through his Instagram page of @talbotj2001, or through his Twitter account @hurricane460.
