Product Description
Save $300 on this amazing telescope with a minor cosmetic blemish. Stellarvue makes premium refractors. We hand figure the optics on all SVX refractors to make them as perfect as we can. We also focus on mechanical and cosmetic quality. Over the years, we have set aside some of our telescope tubes or dew-shields for having a very minor paint blemish or small scratch. We have accumulated a number of these very lightly blemished tubes or dew shields. Since we never featured SVX refractors on our Black Friday or Cyber Monday sale, we decided this year to offer these premium refractors at $300 off because of a very lightly blemished tube or dew shield.
Limited Quantity: Many of these blemishes are hard to photograph. We have not photographed these telescope tubes. If you want a pristine telescope, you should order a new one but if you do not mind a small scratch or blemish on either the tube or dew shield, this is your chance to save $300. Quantities are obviously limited. As we run out of blemished tubes this web page will change and not allow you to order. When this happens, it means we have no more blemished tubes for this model.
Delivery: Ship date will depend on when you order and the accessories you select. We are a small company and Black Friday/Cyber Monday is the most hectic time of year for us. We do not rush any processes when it comes to optical testing, aligning and certifying. We are in continuous production. This means we have a number of completed objectives in house, more at the coating lab and the remainder are going through the final stages of hand figuring. The first orders will ship in two weeks but those that follow may be delayed for up to about 60 days or so. The sooner you order, the sooner we can assemble, align, QC and ship yours. These are premier optics and time is not of the essence in creating SVX telescopes. Please do not order if you cannot be patient as we ensure that your SVX telescope is as good as we can make it.
The other thing that will delay an order is the focuser selected. Order with a Stellarvue 3" focuser and there will be no focuser-caused delay but if you order an upgrade, those focusers are limited. It may take 30 days or more to get certain upgraded focusers. You can call us to get a more accurate estimate of a shipping date. Be aware, we are closed Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday but we will be available the following Saturday to answer emails. We will return on Cyber Monday but donot wait until then as we estimate most of our inventory will be gone by then.
This is our latest 90mm apo triplet figured in our shop here in Auburn. These are the sharpest 90 mm telescopes we have ever offered.
The imaging version is currently $400 additional, and it includes $498 worth of accessories. The accessories are: Stellarvue's SFFX-1 Photographic Field Flattener, TP013A Losmandy-style rail, two cnc-machined aluminum risers. These items will allow balance and space when a camera is added for imaging, without them the telescope will be back-heavy.
The Stellarvue SVX090T features a 90 mm f-6 (540 mm focal length) fully multi-coated, 3-element objective lens with a super low dispersion center element.
Optics: SVX90T is rated at .96 Strehl or higher as measured on our Zygo Phase Shifting Interferometer in red light. Visit our SVX Optics Page to learn more about this process.
Availability: During the Great American Eclipse, we offered a special "Eclipse-Chaser" version of our venerable SVX90T. We sold far more than we anticipated. It takes time to hand figure SVX optics, so we will soon run out. Once we run out, these telescopes will be wait listed until around September or so. If you are interested in getting an SVX90T email us at mail@stellarvue.com or call us a (530) 823-7796 to ensure we have one left.
We sell most of our SVX90T's with our highly rated Stellarvue 3" focuser. People love this focuser but if you would prefer a Feather Touch or Moonlite 3" focuser, you can select this option above and the pay the additional amount for these.
The SVX090T standard/visual version comes with
- A heavy duty, thickly padded C-20 travel case.
- 3" Stellarvue dual speed focuser with 2" and 1.25" compression ring adapters and dual finder-scope shoes.
- Heavy-duty cnc machined, 1" thick hinged aluminum mounting rings.
- Your choice between the Losmandy style TP009 or the Vixen Style TP012 mounting rail (*This can be specified in your order notes).
- Handle: The Stellarvue #HAN-2 handle is included.
- A heavy duty, thickly padded C-19 Travel case instead of the C20. The C19 (shown pictured to the right) allows the telescope to be stored with risers and rail in place. The optional waterproof, American-made SKB hard case with think tank dividers may be selected for an additional cost.
- Your choice between the Losmandy style TP013 or the Vixen-Style TP012 mounting rail (*This can be specified in your order notes).
- Handle: The Stellarvue #HAN-2 handle is included.
- Two heavy duty cnc machined aluminum 2 1/2" risers.

SVX Optics
Light gathering and magnification power: Although Dawes limit states maximum power for telescopes under good conditions is about 213 powers for a 90 mm telescope, you can exceed this power on a very steady night. This is a true apo triplet, capable of higher power when conditions permit.
Two-year warranty and Stellarvue service: We are with you for life. Stellarvue telescopes and accessories are covered by a two-year parts and labor warranty, but our service does not stop there. Since we are a telescope maker, we can repair your SVX telescope for a nominal fee even years after the warranty expires, should you accidentally drop or otherwise damage it, (within reasonable limits naturally). Buy a Stellarvue telescope with confidence - our customer care is legendary!
Specifications:
Objective Lens: 90 mm clear aperture, 540 mm focal length (f-6) apochromatic triplet using an FCD100 center element to provide the highest contrast with excellent color correction both visually and photographically. The telescope comes with a Zygo Interferometric Test Report taken in red light at .97 Strehl or better.
Dimensions: Telescope is 17 3/4" long with focuser racked in, eyepieces adapters installed, and dew shield retracted. 20 1/4" with dew shield extended. Main tube is 4 1/8" in diameter. Dew Shield is 4.77" in diameter, 6 inches long.
Weight: Telescope tube weighs 8 lbs. Dual rings weigh 2 lbs. Risers weigh .8 lb. Rail weighs approximately 1.5 lbs.
Focuser: 3.0" Stellarvue dual-speed rack and pinion focuser with 1.25" and 2" compression ring adapters and dual finder scope dovetail shoes. Optional Feather Touch or Moonlite Nitecrawler focuser options available at additional cost.
Case: Standard/visual version comes with the Stellarvue C20 heavy duty, thickly padded case. The Imaging upgrade version comes with the C19 heavy duty, thickly padded case.
Rings: Stellarvue R105SET precision hinged rings. Each ring has five 1/4-20 holes top and bottom, with one in the center and two spaced 1.5” and 60 mm apart.
Diagonal: Optional. You can purchase our 2" Quartz Dielectric diagonal upgrade for only $199 when ordering simultaneously with the telescope. It does not come with a 1.25" adapter since the telescope already has one.
Photographic Field Flattener: SFFX1-90 is included with the imaging upgrade version and optionally available with the standard version. This is our flattener, designed by Stellarvue and made here to work with a variety of telescopes with cameras up to full frame, significantly improving field flatness. The SVX90T operates natively at f-6 so if a reducer/flattener is used it can work with APS-C and smaller sensors. Better full frame performance with a reducer-flattener is attained with the SVX102T.
