Product Description
Save $300 on this amazing telescope with a minor cosmetic blemish. Stellarvue makes premium refractors. We hand figure the optics on all SVX refractors to make them as perfect as we can. We also focus on mechanical and cosmetic quality. Over the years, we have set aside some of our telescope tubes or dew-shields for having a very minor paint blemish or small scratch. We have accumulated a number of these very lightly blemished tubes or dew shields. Since we never featured SVX refractors on our Black Friday or Cyber Monday sale, we decided this year to offer these premium refractors at $300 off because of a very lightly blemished tube or dew shield.
Limited Quantity: Many of these blemishes are hard to photograph. We have not photographed these telescope tubes. If you want a pristine telescope, you should order a new one but if you do not mind a small scratch or blemish on either the tube or dew shield, this is your chance to save $300. Quantities are obviously limited. As we run out of blemished tubes this web page will change and not allow you to order. When this happens, it means we have no more blemished tubes for this model.
Delivery: Ship date will depend on when you order and the accessories you select. We are a small company and Black Friday/Cyber Monday is the most hectic time of year for us. We do not rush any processes when it comes to optical testing, aligning and certifying. We have a number of completed objectives in house, more at the coating lab and the remainder are going through the final stages of hand figuring. The first orders will ship in two weeks but those that follow may be delayed for up to about 60 days or so. The sooner you order, the sooner we can assemble, align, QC and ship yours. These are premier optics and time is not of the essence in creating SVX telescopes. Please do not order if you cannot be patient as we ensure that your SVX telescope is as good as we can make it.
The other thing that will delay an order is the focuser selected. Order with a Stellarvue 3" focuser and there will be no focuser-caused delay but if you order an upgrade, those focusers are limited. It may take 30 days or more to get certain upgraded focusers. You can call us to get a more accurate estimate of a shipping date. Be aware, we are closed Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday but we will be available the following Saturday to answer emails. We will return on Cyber Monday but donot wait until then as we estimate most of our inventory will be gone by then.
The SVX102T is the instrument white color version of our premier high-performance 4” f-7. (714mm focal length) air-spaced apo triplet refractor. This telescope has recently been reviewed by Tony Hallas in Astronomy Magazine and was also reviewed in Sky and Telescope magazine by Dennis DiCicco. Two outstanding reviews by recognized experts in their field. The SVX102T is our most popular telescope since it is relatively light and portable. The102T can be made airline carry-on size by simply unthreading the focuser.
The telescope comes standard with a Stellarvue F-SV3B 3" dual-speed, fully-rotating focuser with 2" and 1.25" adapters. This size focuser minimizes vignetting. Our 3" Stellarvue focuser is popular, 90% of the orders we receive for this telescope specify this focuser as it is smooth and stable. It makes a great imaging focuser and works well with either the Optec, Prima-Luce or ZWO EAF focus motors. This telescope may also be upgraded to a 3" Feather Touch or MoonLite NiteCrawler focuser by selecting the options above.
Available now: Stellarvue SVX102T Refractors are now available when ordered with the standard Stellarvue 3" focuser. There is usually a reasonable waiting period for those ordered with either a Feather Touch or a Moonlite focuser. Call us at (530) 823-7796 or email us at mail@stellarvue.com for estimated delivery times for those models.
Fully Multi-Coated Apochromatic Triplet Objective: This telescope has a 101.5mm f-7 apochromatic triplet objective with an Ohara FPL-53 center element and provides extremely high-contrast and reflector-like color correction.
Optics: SVX102T is rated at .97 Strehl or higher as measured on our Zygo Phase Shifting Interferometer in red light. Once the aberrations are minimized, we move the center of correction toward the middle of the visual spectrum. Visit our SVX Optics Page to learn more about this process.
This is our most popular telescope, and sales have doubled thanks to the high-quality images that have been taken by so many through the years. These optics are meticulously hand figured in our shop to minimize aberrations. Our customers buy this telescope with confidence in both the optics and our level of personal support after the sale.

Specifications:
Focuser: The SVX102T comes with a choice of three different focusers: The Stellarvue 3" Stellarvue photo & visual focuser, a 3" Feather Touch focuser or a 3" Moonlite Computerized focuser for remote imaging. All focusers come with 2” and 1.25” compression ring adapters for visual use. When converting from visual use to imaging, unthread the 2" compression ring adapter from the knurled part at the end of the focuser, and thread the field flattener or reducer flattener into its place.
Objective Lens: The 101.5mm clear aperture, 714mm focal length (f-7), air-spaced apochromatic triplet.
Light Gain: 213x (human eye = 1)
Image Circle:
- with 3" Focuser and SFFX-1: 41 mm
- with 3" Focuser and .75X Reducer/Flattener: About 40 mm
Tube Assembly: Lightweight fully baffled aluminum tube and dew shield. Painted ultra flat black inside. 105mm diameter main tube. To compare the differences between an aluminum tube and carbon fiber tube, visit our Aluminum vs. Carbon Fiber comparison page.
Dew Shield: 4-3/4” diameter, 8-5/16” long retracting aluminum dew shield with cap. The ring on the end of the dew shield is 4 15/16" in diameter. Compatible with this solar filter.
Dimensions: OTA: 18.25” long in travel mode (focuser unthreaded), or 18.75" if using our large plastic cap to cover the end. 22.5” long with focuser in place and dew shield retracted; 28” with dew shield extended.
Weight: Telescope tube weighs 9.8 lbs. with 2” adapter and 1 1/4" adapter. Rings weight .8 pounds each.
Rings: Included with the telescope purchase is Stellarvue's cnc machined ring set with five 1/4"-20 threaded holes on top and bottom. Holes are spaced 1.5” and 60mm apart respectively, with one in the center.

Recommended Accessories:
Optional American-made waterproof hard case: The telescope can be shipped with or without a case. Our current case option is an American-made SKB 3i-2615-10BE waterproof hard case with custom American made Polyethylene padded interior. The Polyethylene interior, is superior to polyurethane which absorbs moisture like a sponge. This is the 102 case with the vibration-absorbent padding custom cut to accomdate the telescope with or without focus motors installed. The case accepts the complete telescope with rings, rail, handle and focus motor attached. Two circular openings in the case will hold the SFFX-1 field flattener and the SFFR.74 reducer/flattener.
